Arguably one of the most popular games to play and being played online is 7 Card Stud. This game is really a variation of Poker and is usually played between up to eight players. In the game of 7 Card Stud there is what is called “Betting Rounds’ which may number up to five. Betting rounds are really the times bets are placed.

In this game every player starts off by placing a bet which is the opening bet and which gives them a shot at winning the pot. Two “Hole Cards are then dealt to each player and they are placed face down so that no one can see them. Players are also dealt a Door Card which is face up. Any player who is still on the board in the final round will end up having a number of facedown card (three maximum) and face up cards (four maximum).

The first round of bets has a betting limit of half the lower level of the stake. Whichever player has the lowest valued Door Card showing by suit has to begin the initial betting and the amount that person bets must be at least half of the lower limit stake. Each other player will then place their bets going around the table in a clockwise manner. All the players are then dealt one more card which is turned face up.

The process above is repeated for four more betting rounds. In the second round however, any player with a “Pair” for both their face up cards when the betting starts can place multiple bets. They will have the choice between the lower and higher limits of the table’s stake. Once the player chooses the higher limit stake to bet on, every other player must continue the betting at this limit.

By the fifth deal which is the final one there may not be enough cards available for every player to get a final card (or River), which would be their seventh. In situations like this a card is placed face up in the middle of the table and is considered the “Community Board Card”. All active players will have a stake in this card.

When the fifth round betting is done then the “Showdown” begins. This is where all players left on the board will try to create a Poker hand with five cards of the highest value. Whomever holds the poker hand with the highest value wins.

After the fifth and final Betting Round is complete, there is a “Showdown”. The player who creates the highest ranking (valued), five card, Poker hand, using any combination of five of their seven total cards wins.
